ARTICLE: Cast Aluminum...A Beautiful Alternative

Finally....a gate that is beautiful and homeowner friendly!  From one of our favorite companies Exceptional Entrances comes these beautifully designed unique gates.   They are lightweight and nearly maintenance free they are perfect for areas in corrosive climates and clients who enjoy the very intricate and ornate designs only cast metals can offer. 

Exceptional Entrances cast aluminum gates are made from durable commercial grade aluminum.  The frames are made from structural grade aluminum. All other elements including hinges, latches and dead bolts, ground anchors and rollers are designed and engineered to minimize maintenance costs and minimize or eliminate rust or corrosion concerns by using stainless steel or galvanized metal components.  The gate or panel sections are carefully hand prepped and pre-finished with a factory applied four-coat acrylic paint available in a wide range of colors as well as faux finishes in Antique Bronze  Antique Patina Green and Antique Gun Metal Gray. Traditional finishes in Black and White as well as Metallic paint finishes available in bronze, gun metal gray, and green are also available. 

The aluminum driveway gate perimeter frames are made with heavy-duty, extruded 6063 aluminum profiles. The standard frame used on most driveway gates, garden and courtyard gates measures approximately 1.5” x 3”. Each garden and courtyard gate frame comes hinged with a latch (dead-bolt if requested), a ground anchor.

The aluminum driveway gate hinge system consists of a stainless steel pin-and-barrel hinge with grease port and ball bearing load point. Hinges are available in 2” and 1.5” diameters. Depending on gate size and weight, hinges are engineered to a maximum 600 lb. load per hinge. Hinges are welded to a galvanized steel bracket secured to the aluminum extruded frame by four 1/4” steel rivet pins. Brackets and hinges come pre-finished to match the gate paint finish. 

The company provides specifications and shop drawings to all clients for approval prior to manufacturing.

Wood Garden & Fence Gates:

All of our  wood gates are beautifully and sturdily crafted to stand the test of time by our local old order Amish community. Each gate is meticulously and individually hand crafted by an expert woods craftsman, not by an assembly line of factory workers.

Our stunning wood gates are both economical and well crafted from solid IPE Wood, White Oak or Western Red Cedar.  They are completely solid and are not veneered. It is also important to mention that all of our gates are constructed from premium heartwood that is located in the center of the tree.  This is the strongest and most durable part of the tree.  There are no knots in our wood gates.  Many other gate companies use second run and inferior wood that does not exhibit the durable qualities of the more expensive heart wood that we use.  This fact along with the multitude of uniquely designed gates add a natural elegance and durability not found by any of our competitors.  

All of our gates are designed and constructed to be strong and durable.  Our gates are constructed using traditional premium construction methods including Mortise and Tenon Joinery and Tongue and Groove floating panels.  Our wood gates are great for areas in corrosive climates, and for those who would like to avoid the maintenance and cost common to iron gates.  Our White Oak and Red Cedar Gates are shipped finely sanded and ready to accept your stain or paint of choice.  While our IPE wood gates ship already treated with a clear UV inhibitor.  The extreme density of IPE wood that gives its incredible durability, however does not allow the wood to accept paint or stain well.  For this reason the IPE wood is available only in it's beautiful natural "rosey walnut" finish.
